Prospect and Refuge

from Elabrynth by Torii

/

about

The Elabrynth itself is truly monolithic in size. Great steel beams encase shimmering crystals mined from the hallowed stones that line in the deep depths of the under earth. It was said that men who ventured out to scavenge these rare gems were devoured by the denizens that dwell amongst the caverns in the dark, completely unaware that their final days lie in the discovery of another blood red stone. It has also been said that mine carts were carried out from the under earth with severed arms, legs, torsos and even skulls left in the remains. So true it may be, that there's blood in the stones that decorate the Elabrynth; that there's great sorrow and pain written within its walls... That the spirits of the dead emanate about the city, looking for their ill promised rewards.

Yet still the citizens marvel at its beauty, the empire upon the sand. They clamor about and sing aloud, "Not even the Gods could strike this city down!" as the pubs stay open until the third moon rises and the ale never stops flowing for those with a flagon to fill. For truly the Gods have smiled upon this divine structure, built with the blood, sweat and tears of the mightiest men and beasts.

lyrics

Behold the shimmering utopia
Behold this glorious construct of man
The metropolis stands tall and mighty
A statuesque marvel throughout the land
Onlookers with their eyes agape in lust
Upon a kingdom that will never see a day of rust
This sacred spectrum of Gods and kings
Shall not be tarnished by any living being

Even if the giants dared
To make our kingdom theirs
No beast could bring its fall
The prospect's standing tall
Even the scale-soaked drake
With its fierce and fiery rage
Couldn't make our kingdom fall
The prospect's standing tall

The wizard of the mount
He could not bring it down
No mage could bring its fall
The prospect's standing tall
The puny Gods on high
With jealousy in their eyes
Couldn't make this kingdom fall
The prospect's standing tall

I invoke a challenge to the Gods on high
Come down from your fetid palaces that soar above the sky
Witness this masterpiece built by the hands of your creations
Grovel at the sight of something that you did not fashion with your own minds

Bear witness to its majesty
A monument to time
Built with the blood of mighty men and beasts
A glittering isle in a sea awash with moldered slime

Even in the golem's grasp
Our kingdom stands steadfast
No titan could bring its fall
The prospect's standing tall
Even in the raging storm
Our banners fly untorn
No winds will bring its fall
The prospect's standing tall

Even in the mouth of hell
Where foul demons dwell
No spirit could bring its fall
The prospect's standing tall
Even through the march of time
Our refuge shall not grime
Ages could not bring its fall
The prospect's standing tall

Our kingdom stands tall before mighty kings
Our kingdom stands tall before immortal beings
Our kingdom is alive with vibrancy
Our kingdom is alive with celestial dreams
It is an eye shining before the Gods
To show them that we are titans without flaws
